If it’s your first class, my top tips are:

  • Arrive 10mins early and if nervous or a beginner, get one of the first 3 bikes in the room on the left.  I’ve set them up to be easier than the rest 🙂
  • Bring a towel, our spin classes will make you sweat – a lot.  If doing the 90min advanced classes you can sweat up to 2litres!  Use one end of the towel for the first half of the class, then switch ends.  It’s always nice to have a fresh part of the towel.  Top 10 Tips2
  • Bring plenty of water – but no glass bottles please.  Water is available at reception from just €1
  • If it’s your first class, be sure to let the instructor know, so they can show you how to setup the bike.  Don’t arrive late for your first class, as setting up the bike takes a few minutes.  Parking and finding us can be tricky the first time you come too.
  • If an evening class, avoid caffeine afterwards, as it will mix with the tons of endorphins released while spinning and stop you going to sleep.  Unless you’re lucky enough to be going out afterwards, then I recommend having a double shot of coffee and you’ll be hyper for the night 🙂
  • The object of our classes is to hold the RPM’s (the instructor will show you how) and to stay within 5 gears at all times.  Don’t be hard on yourself if you aren’t holding the gears the instructor is saying, the RPMs are the most important thing to stick to.
  • If doing the advanced classes, eat complex carbs 2-3 hours beforehand, a fist size is a good guide.  Then 20mins before, have some fruit or a little chocolate.  An electrolyte mix is also recommended.
  • Please inform the instructor of any illnesses, injuries or if pregnant, at the beginning of the class.
  • We have 20min, 30min, 45min & 90min classes.  Choose the right class for you.  A beginner attending a 90min class will really struggle and hate it, likewise an advanced cyclist attending a 20min intro to spin class will be bored.
  • I’ve designed our spin classes to be fun, challenging training sessions, that will dramatically improve your fitness and burn lots of calories in the process.  You also get a big endorphin rush afterwards and feel great.  I realise spin isn’t for everyone but I encourage you to try 3 classes and to see the benefits it will bring.
